Learning to operate a duck call and then how to read the birds has always intrigued me. Luckily I had some very good teachers that not only provided excellent instruction, but also hands on experience in the marsh. For me there's no better feeling than calling at a flock of mallards and watching them turn towards me, or breaking ducks down from a feeder flock and finally working them in closer until their fluttering over the decoys
Disappointingly there is no magic duck call, nor can one simply sound like a real duck without considerable practice. But I can assure you the hunter capable of sounding like a real duck and knowing how to adapt these sounds to various situations will greatly improve their odds of success.
