Drake Pintail Duck Decoy Painting Instructions

Summary:Drake pintail duck decoys are an excellent way to add visibility to your spread and certainly help in taking these weary bonus ducks. Here's quick overview of how we repaint our pintail decoys. Because we're doing this for the purpose of visibility we have no painting instructions for hen pintails as we don't even use them in most cases.

Remember, if these decoys are going to stand out during the season you have to keep them clean. It doesn't take long with a scrub brush to quickly clean off the dried up muddy water from your decoys.

Also keep in mind there's no reason to go out and buy drake pintail decoys. If you have some hen mallard decoys your willing to convert into black ducks, pintails, or widgeon go for it. I can assure you real ducks are not going to know the difference.

I will also add that we continue to use drake pintail decoys in our spread until the end of the hunting season verus widgeon decoys as widgeon will migrate south sooner than pintails.
