Mobility Is The Key For Duck Hunting Success

Understanding the importance of location is critical to your success. It can be the difference between you having marginal or no success and filling your bag limit that day.

One of the biggest mistakes waterfowl hunters make is their unwillingness to pick up and change locations during the day if they are not exactly where the birds want to be.

Changes may occur during the day that will cause ducks and geese to use an area other then where you originally set up. For example, changes in weather conditions, wind direction, wind speed, or changes in water levels many cause ducks and geese to change their patterns.

Instead of picking up and moving to a new and more productive location, too many waterfowl hunters try to "pull" or "force" the birds into their spread.

Whenever possible, pick up your decoys and change locations to where the birds want to be. There are times when only a short move will spell the difference between success and failure.

Moves as little as 50 yards can pay huge dividends to you and your success. On one occasion, we moved five times in three hours because of rising water levels and wind direction changes. Each time, we moved our boat and picked up and reset over 150 decoys. But, when we finally got to the spot where the birds wanted to be, we were done in less than 30 minutes.

Your willingness to be mobile and go where the birds want to be will help you experience more consistent success in the field.

Testimonials

"Thank you! This was my first duck season and thnks to your online audio lessons I was able to call Mallards to my dekes and knock them out of the sky! Much appreciated!"
Scott Deming, Syracuse, NY

"I have been waterfowl hunting since I was 13. It's a sickness, which i'm not trying very hard to cure. I found your site just a month, or so, ago, and am enjoying it very much. I hope you keep up the great articles and videos, and update the site as often as possible. I've read, and re-read every page on here, and like I said, I'm loving what you have here!"
Alan Pendgraft, Iowa

"Have to first say that I am amazed by your website. Lots of REAL and PRACTICAL stuff. I watched the videos on painting the drake mallard and it definitely was worth joining!"
Randy LeClair, Ontario Canada

"The info you guys have built up on here is priceless. I got hooked on ducks and geese two years ago and don't know a whole lot about hunting techniques or strategies. This year I have had limited hunting outings as I'm in the military and been deployed allot, but using some of your suggestions, I have already seen improvements to my kill #'s."
Rollie Flint, Minnesota
